In 1991 the seminary founded the Basic Education program. Since that time SEMILLA has published adult Sunday School materials, anthologies for the regional Bible institutes, and guides for women’s studies.
SEMILLA realized the need to start working at a more basic level than the few students who had the privilege of coming to study at the seminary level. And so the Basic Education was formed as an effort to relate directly to the congregations to assist with Christian education programs and the strengthening the education given within the churches. It also works with the Bible Institutes which are operated by the Mennonite conventions in each of the countries.
SEMILLA staff and local writers’ groups are collaborating with other Central and South American Mennonites, as well, to produce children’s Sunday School curriculum which will be used throughout the region.
